Momofuku Porn Buks, I mean, Pork Buns

I just stumbled upon this blog while looking for cocoa pasta for another project I’m working on, and upon seeing the photo of the Momofuku pork buns again since we parted ways almost 2 years ago, my tongue jumped with excitement. On a trip to NYC where I was left to my own devices for five days to roam the city and waste the day time and eating hours away, I made a reservation as Ssam Bar for myself. This is where one of my Top 10 favorite meals occurred. These porks buns were the second thing I tasted that day, starting with a grapefruit soda from Thailand. To say that they were delicious, is a stupid understatement. In fact, I considered re-ordering my entire lunch, pretending it was for someone else, and then taking it to the back alley to finish round two. The meal ended with a dessert I have since searched the ends of the world wide web to find the recipe for- the deconstructed Thai Ice Tea. And I’ll be happy to report, to end the magical year of 2011, the Momofuku cookbooks I received at the holidays have both the Pork Buns and Thai Ice Tea recipes inside! I smell a dinner party coming on….
